I'm really glad my little wall project is done. Really, really glad.
AND it's done before Christmas.

Sunday afternoon, my hubby helped me finish things up.
It was worth the effort (and the frustration, and the layer of sawdust blanketing the sunroom...).
The final project is cozy, natural, textural, and so beautiful (if I do say so myself).
I love it more than I ever loved the stencil.
I really do.

While I sit back and figure out just how I'm going to add another layer of interest, and avoid covering up too much of that beautiful wood, I "dressed" the wall up, a bit, for Christmas with some paper stars, a strand of doily garland, and a chalk deer head silhouette (which totally wipes clean with a wet sponge). Just something temporary and a little bit festive.

As you can see, its far from perfect, but I'm really ok with that.
You can't see the gaps from afar, and when you're close up, you can be reminded of my 6 day stenciling labor of love.

I have a few ideas for the wall, but we'll see which one actually materializes since I'm incredibly indecisive these days.
I'm sure it will be a few weeks before I settle on something.
In the meantime, what do you think? Do you miss the stencil? Because I totally don't. :)
Have you tackled any projects just days before Christmas?
There's got to be people out there just as crazy as me, if not crazier.
Now that the wall is finished, I can focus on baking, cleaning, and getting my table set for Christmas Eve dinner.
I can't believe Christmas is just 4 days away!
I m so completely in love with your new wall! The paneling, the deer silhouette, the paper decorations...it's all ridiculously fantastic Allison and I am totally impressed:o)
ReplyDeleteomg ALLI! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! If I ever have a boy, this is what I'm going to do in his room on a wall. You did amazing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to read your blog for a little bit because I was working on an ABC book for Eliana. I got the pictures sorted in November. It took a while since I went through every picture over the last 5 years. Then I resorted and picked my favorite 75 pictures. It took nearly ever moment of Eliana's nap times and bed time before us to get it done. So yes, I am a crazy person to have waited until the week before Christmas to actually start putting the book together. I had worked on the photos and the sentences for each photo before that week, but suddenly the week was there and it turned into a mad dash to finish it in time. Eliana loves it! She loves pointing out family members and learning about new plants and animals. Thanks again for your help identifying them!
ReplyDeleteYour wall looks gorgeous, it makes your beautiful accessories really stand out too! I have this linked to my plank walls post as well today, for inspiration!
